Hi Friends! Today, I am sharing one of my fav Gujarati dish with you all!! Dahi Vada! This dish reminds me of my childhood as this was a staple in our household and it still is.
It is so tasty, savory, sweet and filling! Although preparations take a bit longer, items like chutney if you already have made, it will speed up the process.
This dish is a great item when entertaining family or friends!
I am trying my hand at cooking more traditional items at home and love to share dishes that are easy to make! To see how I made this, keep reading below.
Ingredients
Vada – Dahi Vada Instant Mix
Dahi – 1 cup plain yogurt mixed with 1/4 cup water, to make it sauce like
Green Chutney –I made this one here
Sweet Tamarind Chutney –This one is my favorite
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/4 tsp red chilli powder
3/4 tsp chaat masala
salt to taste
To Make
Prepare Dahi Vada per the directions on the box
Place some Vada in enough water to cover them, leave them in for 3-5 minutes, remove them and press to release the excess water
I like to leave half of the vada from the box unsoaked so there is variety
In a serving bowl, place 2 soaked Vada + 2 regular Vada
Add in enough Dahi to cover the Vada
Top with Green Chutney & Tamarind Chutney
Sprinkle the Cumin powder + Red chili powder + Chaat masala + Salt
Makes enough for 2-3 servings
